Fire-resistant welding jacket offers breathable comfort with ANSI Level A2 Cut Resistance.
May 5, 2020 - Electric arc and welding splatter protective garments require a durable, high strength, high performance FR fabric that adds value without compromising comfort. The Tillman 9730 Welding Jacket delivers just that and is definitely not your basic welding jacket. The 9730 jacket begins with soft and comfortable, fire resistant 9-ounce U.S. made Westex® FR-7A® fabric and a Twaron®/Lenzing® blend for the sleeves with ANSI A2 Cut Resistance.
The FR-7A® fabric Tillman uses for the torso is designed to self-extinguish and complies with ASTM D6413-10 flammability test which requires a maximum char length of 5 inches or a maximum after flame of 2 seconds. FR-7A® material is also pre-shrunk for comfort and maintains its accurate size for the life of the jacket.
The sleeves of the 9730 are made of a twill weave of 40% Twaron® and 60% Lenzing FR® material where sparks and spatter have met their match. The Twaron® material offers strength, high thermal capability and ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 Level A2 Cut Resistance. The Lenzing FR® material offers flame resistance, comfort and moisture management. “The Twaron/Lenzing blend provide a welder better cut resistance, heat protection and better protection from sparks and spatter compared to a traditional leather sleeve” said Jeff Shipley, Tillman’s Director of Marketing.
The sleeves also meet the ARC Thermal Performance Test ASTM 1959, ATPV (cal/cm²) 10.6-12.1 and the ARC Thermal Performance of NFPA 7OE and Level 2.
One nice feature of the 9730 jacket, compared to a welding jacket with leather sleeves, is that the FR-7A® and the Twaron/Lenzing blend material can be laundered up to 50 home or 25 commercial home washings.
The 9730 offers a roomy inside pocket to store smaller items and is an ample thirty inches in length. The jacket is available in – Medium, Large, Extra Large, 2X and 3X.
Tillman’s 9730 is an outstanding fire-resistant welding jacket with breathable comfort, durability and ANSI Level A2 Cut Resistance.

MIG Glove Delivers Incredible Comfort
March 3, 2020 - Recently we were asked the question, “What sets the Tillman 1357 apart from other MIG welding gloves?” The answer: comfort and ANSI A7 cut resistance. The Tillman 1357 was designed so that dexterity was not compromised, and comfort was emphasized.
To achieve a glove that has a broken in feeling right off the shelf, Tillman searched for soft, pliable top grain and split cowhide leather. “With the addition of the ANSI A7 cut liner, it was critical that we started with soft, yet durable, cowhide for the welder to have a comfortable glove that is an extension of their hand” said Andrew Carpentier, a member of Tillman’s product development team.
To help MIG welders have an enhanced sense of feel and execute precise welds, a seamless top grain cowhide forefinger was implemented to provide an excellent feel when operating a MIG gun or a plasma torch. Tillman included a flexible wing thumb to allow added movement for a greater grip on the gun or a torch. “It’s all about the welders experience” said Carpentier. “Knowing welders use these gloves for hours at a time, we had to specifically tailor a product that accentuated comfort for an entire shift”.
During a shift, welders and fabricators handle a lot of material, much of which is sharp. The 1357 provides the welder with an ANSI A7 cut resistance by implementing Dupont™ Kevlar® interior lining. This provides enhanced cut resistance while maintaining the dexterity and comfort welders demand from Tillman.
The Tillman 1357 is the ideal glove for MIG welding, torch work, plasma cutting and even light stick welding. When comfort, dexterity and performance are required, turn to the Tillman 1357. The Tillman 1357 is offered in sizes S, M, L, XL, 2X and 3X and complies with the American National Standard for Hand Protection, ANSI ISEA 105-2016.
Comfort Meets ANSI A7 Cut-Resistance
March 3, 2020 - Introducing the Tillman 1457: a version of America’s best-selling drivers glove with an ANSI A7 cut-resistance. Born in the field, the 1457 is composed of Tillman’s legendary bourbon cowhide split leather back, and top grain Cowhide palm. Dupont™ Kevlar® lined, the 1457 achieves an ANSI A7 cut-resistance with ANSI level 5 puncture and level 4 abrasion ratings. “With the implementation of the Dupont™ Kevlar® lining we are able to offer the same comfort and durability workers demand from our drivers glove, but now with enhanced versatility to handling sharp objects and working with rough surfaces” said Andrew Carpentier, a member of Tillman’s product development team.
This Tillman 1457’s rugged yet refined exterior is lightweight and built to perform. The smooth top grain palm features a keystone thumb to provide workers with the most natural feel possible. Tillman included double stitching on the forefinger to provide enhanced strength and durability. Featuring a cinch closure and rolled cuff, the 1457 provides workers with a comfortable, snug fit that helps refrain dirt and debris from entering the glove.
The Tillman 1457 is great for your everyday work application (construction, agriculture, warehouse work, etc.) and can also be used for light-duty welding. When lightweight comfort and durability are called upon, turn to the Tillman 1457.
Offered in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2X and 3X the Tillman 1457 complies with the American National Standard for Hand Protection, ANSI ISEA 105-2016.

Cubic Boron Nitride abrasive for difficult to finish materials
February 27, 2020 - Brush Research Mfg. Co., Los Angeles, announced their newest abrasive choice for the Flex-Hone line. Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) abrasive is now available for difficult to finish materials like high nickel alloy steels. CBN combines the highest hardness with excellent toughness to provide the optimum surface finish in materials like Monel, Inconel, Incoloy, Hasteloy, Invar and Rene. Flex-Honing is a low pressure, low temperature abrasive finishing process making it an ideal solution in these difficult to finish materials. The tool reduces the work hardened layer produced by machining operations without imparting thermally induced distortion. The resulting surface is less prone to oxidation and stress induced cracking. Sizes from 4mm to 20mm are standard in three different mesh sizes. Additional diameters and mesh selections are available on special order. Other specialty abrasives include Diamond and Ceramic. Standard Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide abrasive in stock.

Bernard expands AccuLock S Series consumables
February 20, 2020 - Bernard, Beecher, Illinois, has expanded its AccuLock™ S Series Consumables to include additional diffuser and nozzle types and sizes, as well as new contact tip options.
The large AccuLock S Consumables offering now features a new slip-on diffuser, along with a copper 3/8-inch bore tapered nozzle.
Bernard has also added two new diffusers that allow small AccuLock S Consumables to be installed easily, including thread-on and slip-on versions — plus compatible brass and copper nozzles with 5/8- and 1/2-inch bores and brass nozzles with 3/8-inch bores. A variety of tip recesses are available within the selection of nozzles.
In the case of the small or large AccuLock S Consumable offering, the same nozzle can install onto either a thread-on or slip-on diffuser.
New tapered ‘TT’ Series Contact Tips (0.350-inch O.D.) are available to accommodate wire diameters ranging from 0.023 to 1/16 inch and are compatible with both small and large AccuLock S Diffusers and Nozzles. The ‘TT’ Series Contact Tips pair with tapered-profile nozzles to provide the same tip recess and better weld joint access. Like other contact tips in the system, the ‘TT’ Series Contact Tips feature coarse threads that easily mate with the gas diffuser to reduce the risk of cross-threading and to speed replacement.
The AccuLock S Consumables, introduced in early 2019, were designed to reduce downtime, troubleshooting and rework associated with errors in liner trim length and erratic wire feeding. The system concentrically aligns the liner with the power pin and contact tip, locking it in place for a flawless wire feeding path. Welders don’t need to measure the liner during installation or replacement — they simply cut the liner flush with the back of the power pin for perfect liner trimming, every time.
In addition to contact tips, nozzles and gas diffusers, the AccuLock S Consumables require an AccuLock S-specific liner, power pin and power pin cap.
